It cannot be denied that social inequality is one of the major problems in Thai society today. Because inequality affects the right to access resources including human dignity which appeared both in the nature of class disparity, cultural and ethnic biased discrimination, and gender oppression etc. Furthermore, these problems are becoming increasingly complicated from their occurrence to existence and transformation for a number of elements and conditions. One of the most important elements is the centralized state and the power structures that are established from it. However, no power structure can dominate or control over different social groups forever. As changes are inherent parts of our world, therefore, the social conditions constructed for the centralized state powers will also change accordingly. Key factors that influence changes might include globalization, the proliferation of capitalism and neoliberalism, technological advancement since these factors bring about network of transnational civil societies. For the case of Thailand, those factors together with the realization of the ASEAN Community are considered to be key conditions that bring changes to Thai society and affects the power structure and the centralized state. This implies both vulnerabilities and weaknesses that will eventually trigger resisting movements for increasing resistance, disobedience, and eventual changes to the system at any time.

Under the aforementioned circumstance of current Thai society, it is, therefore, undeniable that the university, as a higher institution of the society, must play its part to produce qualified graduates who are knowledgeable about changes and understand the dynamics that exist and transform from the past to the present. At the same time, graduated students could also be aware of the complexity of the various phenomena that arise, and equip themselves ready to stand up for justice as well as adhere themselves to the ideal of building a society with equality and livability for all.
